Some of you will be aware that Drimnagh is involved in the Smarter Travel competition bid. See an earlier post here.

Submitting the plan & bid from Drimnagh required a lot of effort & resources from volunteers in Drimnagh & from Dublin City Council officials early last year.  And it is disheartening for all involved, that no decision has been made on the competition winners  to date.

Drimnagh Community Network & a number of local representatives have pursued this matter & the latest status update on the matter is as below.

Question to City Manager City Council Meeting 10/01/2011

Will the Manager provide an update on the Drimnagh Smarter travel and supply a report of same.

CITY MANAGER’S REPLY:

Below is the Minister of Transport’s response to the most recent parliamentary question on the STA competition.

No decision has yet been announced regarding the outcome of the Smarter Travel Areas Competition.   The future of this Programme will be considered in the context of the recently announced budget for 2011 and the National Recovery Plan.”

Further clarification has been sought on this response & further updates to follow.
