Smarter Travel, Smarter Drimnagh

Smarter Travel, Smarter Drimnagh

Way back in March 2010 I first wrote about Drimnagh Smarter Travel and I’m delighted to say it is finally being launched this November 2011. €80,000 is being put into different projects that will help you change how you get around Drimnagh.

What is it?

Drimnagh Smarter Travel is a project that will help you make Drimnagh better by changing the types of transport used to get around your local community. Mainly, its about getting bums out of cars by walking, cycling or using public transport.

How can you change?

Whether it’s a trip to the shops or your daily commute, there are loads of ways to make your travel easy, green and more enjoyable too. Did you know that walking 1km only takes 12 minutes?

There is real value for Drimnagh to become a model community for Smarter Travel as it is hoped that other areas will follow Drimnagh’s lead and become Smarter Travel communities.

What’s next?

Look out for the leaflet which can be found in the local shops and community places around Drimnagh. Share it with your neighbours and family.

Check if your community organisation or local business is getting involved and think what activity you can add to the Smarter Travel campaign with them. Send your Smarter Travel ideas to drimnaghisgood@gmail.com and we’ll post them on this blog. Or if you are on Twitter you can join the conversation using this hashtag #drimST
