Street Feast #3
We had our third Street Feast last Sunday on Mourne Road in Drimnagh, Dublin 12. It was hosted by one of our lovely neighbour’s Angie on the road outside her house.
Angie registered with the Street Feast peeps a month ago and got a great free party pack to help organise the Street Feast and get people interested in taking part. The party pack included invites, bunting, party hats and balloons. All of which made for a very colourful Drimnagh Street Feast this year.
The party started at 2pm with neighbours coming out with tables and chairs. We didn’t get as many neighbours at it this year and I think that was mainly down to the weather. It was cold, wet and windy, so much so, gloves were worn by some of the younger street feasters.
There was plenty of food, cakes and sweets to go around and a lot of tea was made. We got a chance to talk for a bit longer with some neighbours that we usually only get to nod or say a quick hello. It was a real shame that we didn’t get to sit down and relax (it was too cold to sit for long)
There was about 12 families that took part in the Street Feast and despite the weather there was a lot of chat and laughs shared together.
Grandads got to hug granddaughters.
Memories of street parties from the olden days were remembered and photos shared of old neighbours.
